PONTOON DOCK

Part of the new gateway to the Thames Barrier Park, Pontoon Dock delivers 236 homes for London’s Royal Docks, an area currently undergoing significant regeneration.

The development consists of three main new 14-storey buildings, with interconnecting lower-level buildings of up to five storeys. Its 236 apartments mix private and affordable rent and shared ownership. The ground and first-floor levels contain retail and commercial space with an undercroft car park built into the rear of the development, which retains the Thames Barrier Park.

The main challenges for the site related to constructing the buildings adjacent to the DLR Pontoon Dock station, and the fast delivery programme. Shockledge were appointed as the civil and structural engineer starting at RIBA Stage 3. Our work commenced with an extensive value engineering exercise and progressed through to construction, working alongside Assael architects to deliver the completed project.
