Devonshire Park’s redevelopment was a project jointly funded by Eastbourne Borough Council and the Lawn Tennis Association and built by Kier. It consists of a new players’ village providing world-class facilities for women’s and men’s tennis and ensuring the venue remains one of the country’s leading tennis centres.

Shockledge were appointed as the structural and civil engineer to take the project from planning to completion. The scheme was to construct a modern two-storey glass and timber-clad facility that incorporates player changing rooms, fitness and physio suites, player lounges and medical facilities. The design was optimised, working with Actavo, to suit a fast-track modular approach in order to be ready for a key event in which to showcase the new facility.
